The DOKAS story
The world of DOKAS has always been colorful, as colorful as life with dogs and cats. For our customers, this has meant a growing range of diverse products from the very beginning.
DOKAS stands for progress. As a creative company, we are constantly on the lookout for snacks that are even tastier, more practical and more lovingly designed. Not only our end customers look forward to these innovations, but also various private label suppliers for whom we are currently developing products.
Foundation in Essen
DOKAS was founded in Essen in 2006. Since day one, we have lived our passion for dogs and cats and have given our all to develop premium snacks that are appreciated by animals and owners alike.
Cooperation with SGS begins
DOKAS stands for progress and quality. We not only promise the latter, but also put it into our products. To achieve this, we rely on the independent expertise of SGS Institut Fresenius, among others, and from now on we will make this transparent for consumers by printing it on our snack packaging.
Relaunch of DOKAS snack packaging
Nothing is as constant as change! Sooner or later, it will be time to revitalize the brand and adapt its communication and presentation. Only by understanding this dynamic can we constantly adapt our goals and position ourselves on the market as a pioneer for our customers. An elementary cornerstone for the successful repositioning was a relaunch of our packaging design geared towards the target groups.
"The valuable rabbit" award and MSC certification
The relationship between humans and animals is important to us! Our ongoing measures with regard to animal welfare and the responsible handling of raw materials are therefore an important part of our daily activities. We were the first company in the pet food industry to be awarded the rabbit value for our activities in this area. The start has been made!
Move to Gelsenkirchen
In 2022, we moved into our new company headquarters. Of course, we will remain in the heart of the Ruhr region, where it all began with a small office in Essen, and are now moving with a forward-looking perspective. The site of the former Schalker Verein steelworks, where steel was produced for decades, has been developed into one of the most attractive locations in the region so that there is sufficient space for our team and our projects and we can make our logistics processes even more efficient.
Animal welfare products & Certified Humane award
We are continuing our initiative for greater responsibility and sustainable action. In 2022, we launched a range that was certified in accordance with the animal welfare standards of the Humane Animal Care program.

Our snacks not only taste great, they are now award-winning! DOKAS is top brand in the category "Dog food - snacks".
Triple Award Winner
For the third year in a row, DOKAS wins the Lebensmittel Zeitung Top Brand award in the category "Dry dog food snacks". We are delighted about the hat-trick.
